Lincoln Bryant’s FRAXA Campaign

Lincoln Bryant’s FRAXA Campaign

A few months ago we opted to do genetic testing on Lincoln to see if there was an underlying reason for his developmental delays. He was diagnosed with fragile X syndrome. Like so many people when they first get this diagnosis, we were sad and scared for him and his future. I had a lot of confusion and once I got on the internet I was able to find FRAXA Research Foundation and answers to a lot of my questions.

Lucas Clark’s Family Page – Helping to Find a Cure

Lucas Clark’s Family Page – Helping to Find a Cure
2017 Update by Sidney Clark Dear Friends and Family, Lately we have been surrounded by so many devastating occurrences. Terrorist attacks, hurricanes, earthquakes, floods and fires have occurred one after another, and it seems like the world hasn’t had time to catch up. For a moment, I want you to put yourself in the head of one of the victims of these devastating occurrences. We are surrounded with external stressors that are beyond our control. You might feel overwhelmed, shocked, and left not knowing how to deal with the present situation. This is how my brother Lucas feels on a daily basis when triggered by seemingly insignificant things. If the food Lucas wants isn’t available, if his headphones are wrapped imperfectly around his phone, or if he is rushed anywhere, Lucas feels like his world is falling apart and immediately breaks down. Visiting a doctor for medical attention is traumatizingRead more

Clark 2015 Campaign Raised $11,874 for Fragile X Research

Clark 2015 Campaign Raised $11,874 for Fragile X Research
Funds Raised: $11,874! by Courtney Clark 11/17/2015 I am writing to you as the twin sister, or as I prefer, the “womb-mate” of my brother Lucas Clark. Most everyone who meets Lucas adores his unique charm. For example, when asked “How are you?” he will always give the response “Hi, I’m Lucas!” Although adorable, this is the type of response that worries my family about his future. Lucas and I turned 18 this year, which should be an exciting time for the both of us. Instead, it has brought a new level of stress to my family as my parents must work on things like conservatorship, because he is unable to care for himself and manage his own finances. This process includes mounds of paperwork and meetings where we must argue for control over decisions that he can’t make for himself. Lucas has very limited interests and abilities, so we canRead more

Clark Campaign 2014

Clark Campaign 2014
Funds Raised: $9,460 We hope this year’s annual update and appeal finds you well. From all outward appearances, our son Lucas is a normal seventeen-year-old young man. Most people don’t recognize him as being disabled until they see him acting inappropriately. Lucas suffers from severely limited intellectual ability, which impacts his ability to think, reason and learn. He has significant trouble communicating and also suffers from extreme anxiety if his daily routine gets disrupted in any way. Most of you are likely familiar with the movie “Rain Man”, and this is actually a great example of what it’s like living with Lucas. His days revolve around what comes next, but especially his meals. He’s obsessed with restaurants and constantly tries to negotiate his next meal out. Throughout each and every day, he is constantly asking, “What’s for breakfast, what’s for lunch, what’s for dinner?” Although we are thrilled that heRead more

Clark 2013 Campaign raised $10,405

Clark 2013 Campaign raised $10,405
Funds Raised: $10,405! Update by Stefanie Clark Where has the time gone? I can’t believe another year has passed since I wrote last year’s letter. It’s time to update you on how far Lucas and FRAXA have come in the last year. As much as we hope and pray for a cure, Lucas still suffers from Fragile X Syndrome. Our “man child” continues to grow and mature right before our eyes. Lucas just celebrated his 16th birthday on October 1st.  It’s times like these that make us a bit sad that he won’t be heading down to the DMV to take a driving test like his twin sister, Courtney. Lucas is now in his second year of high school. Instead of studying typical high-school subjects, Lucas is now learning more life-skills to help him get by. We’ve realized that the more we can do to help him get some sortRead more
