NH Fragile X Awareness Day Proclaimed at July Jam Fundraiser

On July 22, 2019, the Fragile X July Jam in Derry, NH, raised over $6000 for FRAXA Research Foundation, to fund research to find effective treatments and ultimately a cure for Fragile X syndrome. Governor Chris Sununu’s policy director D.J. Bettencourt read an official proclamation calling for awareness of, and research on, Fragile X. Fragile X is the most common inherited cause of autism. You can read the full proclamation in the image below.

Darlene and Pat Donovan, driven grandparents of Elias who has Fragile X syndrome, organized the Annual Fragile X Awareness July Jam. Darlene also pushed for the official declaration of Fragile X Awareness Day in New Hampshire. Her hard work paid off in an amazing evening!

This year’s event was hosted at Sabatino’s North Italian Restaurant in Derry who donated the location, food and staff! Robert Fleig and his band, The Coldstream Trio, donated their time to provide great music during the evening. Beyond that dozens of business contributed to the raffles and Elaine Morello, Robin, Marlana Grela Brooke, Taylor Sullivan, and Christina Norris Zarakotas all chipped in to make it a memorial event.
