In Memory of Cheryl “Cheri” Cook
Cheryl “Cheri” Brienza Cook passed away peacefully on October 9, 2026, with her family by her side after a four-year battle with ALS.
Cheri was devoted to her husband, Brad, their three children, and her community in Simsbury, Connecticut. She enjoyed reading, cooking, traveling, and gardening. She often shared fresh produce from her garden and handmade crocheted blankets with family, friends, and neighbors, and loved bringing people together in her home.
As the parent of a child with Fragile X syndrome, Cheri was a dedicated advocate for people with disabilities. An attorney, she spent 30 years on the Southern Connecticut Human Rights Commission, reviewing treatment plans for individuals with developmental disabilities. Her obituary shares more about her life and service to others.
To honor Cheri’s memory, please consider a donation to FRAXA Research Foundation, as her family has requested in lieu of flowers. Thank you for remembering Cheri with a gift in her honor.
