Patrick's Pals Team up for Fragile X

Patrick’s PALS 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament turned 20 on June 4, 2016!  PALS is also closing in on $1 million dollars raised in total for FRAXA Research!

Named in honor of Patrick Vershbow, son of James & Pamela, Patrick’s PALS has raised awareness of Fragile X and funds for FRAXA since 1997. Teaming up with James & Pamela are Jon Pressman, Bill Rome, Steve Savarese, Jim Marks and Scott Katz. Together, they have built Patrick’s PALS into the best day of the year, every year.

Patrick lives with his parents, sister Abigail, a cat named Raccoon, and the newest member of the family, a black lab named Luna.

Like most individuals with Fragile X, sensory issues make being part of a large crowd difficult and have prevented his attending most of the tournaments.

We are still counting donations to the 2016 tournament ... please stay tuned.

The 2015 tournament was truly remarkable. First, Steve Karp stepped up to the plate. A renown New England real estate developer and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Boston Children’s Hospital, Mr. Karp offered a matching grant of $25,000. Not long thereafter Newton native and NFL Owner Jeffrey Lurie wowed PALS with two gifts. On behalf of the Lurie Family Foundation and the Nancy Lurie Marks Foundation, Jeffrey awarded PALS an upfront gift of $25,000 and a matching grant of $25,000. PALS is proud to have met both matches!

Boston Bruins help FRAXA find a cure for Fragile X

At each home game, the Boston Bruins Foundation hosts a 50/50 raffle with half the proceeds going to a lucky winner and the other half going to a worthy charity. On Saturday, Nov 21, 2015, the Bruins played the Toronto Maple Leafs at Boston’s TD Garden, and the charity that night was FRAXA Research Foundation! FRAXA volunteers (more than 50!) raised more than any other raffle this year … over $25,000!

In addition, the Boston Bruins have donated $90,000 to FRAXA to fully fund a research project for two years!

TeamFRAXA Runs Marathons for Fragile X

The 2014 Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) hosted 30,000 runners from all 50 states and 54 countries and spectators to cheer them on. TeamFRAXA ran for thousands of people and their families who live with Fragile X Syndrome.  Our runners raised $18,400 for Fragile X research!

Boston Galas

200 people filled Stella Restaurant in Boston’s hip south end on March 24th, including celebrities from WCVB Channel 5 and some of our favorite FRAXA researchers. Check out Bill Brett’s Party Lines pictures in the Boston Globe.

Another truly magnificent Boston Gala was held at the Seaport, with special guests Doris Buffett, Jim Cantore, and others ...
