Boston, MA (June 9, 2020) — FRAXA Biotech Games™, a gathering of Boston area biotech companies to network in a friendly setting, and form new relationships and potential collaborations while raising money for Fragile X research, is adapting its 2020 event to maintain its commitment to Fragile X and autism research while prioritizing the health and safety of its contestants and volunteers. The organization’s traditional annual event will be transformed into an online interactive experience September 9-11, 2020. The reimagined Biotech Games will be a virtual competition in games among biotech companies from Boston and across the country, including other biotech hubs such as San Francisco, New York/New Jersey, Washington DC and San Diego to celebrate the spirit of the Biotech Games while making an unparalleled impact on the fight against Fragile X and autism.
As the signature event of FRAXA Research Foundation, the Biotech Games brings the biotech community together for networking, team-building and camaraderie while raising money for Fragile X research around the world at institutions that include Harvard, MIT, University of Washington, and UCLA. The Biotech Games, widely regarded as one of the most fun social events in the biotech community in Boston, is now trailblazing during these unprecedented times with a reimagined event that will evoke the sense of camaraderie and company pride with companies from across the country. Teams will compete for bragging rights of the coveted “Cup.”
“Coming together every September for the Biotech Games is a tradition for hundreds of participants from the biotech industry in Boston. While we are unable to move forward with our event safely in the same way we have in past years, we will gather online this year and we will not let the Fragile X community down,” said Dave Bjork, Director of Community Relations at FRAXA and Biotech Games Founder. “We are committed to bringing together the biotech community for the noble purpose of raising money for research. And in reimagining what our event can be, we are excited that we can open up this competition to biotech companies across the country to compete and make new industry connections.”
