Fragile X is caused by just one gene:
This gene, FMR1, shuts down and fails to produce a vital protein.
How common is Fragile X?
1 in 4000 males and 1 in 6-8000 females worldwide have Fragile X.
Testing for Fragile X: A DNA blood test is widely available. Talk with your doctor.
Are there any treatments?: There are many medications and therapies that can help, but no cure yet. FRAXA is working to change this.
